What you likely haven't heard about is a national program put on by the American Chemical Society. It reaches out to U.S. high school students in schools and in circumstances that we've considered disadvantaged. They gather the brightest, given them mentors and real jobs during the summer... Then they gather them together at the end of the summer to report on what they've learned."
