Side Effects Public Media has partnered with America Amplified to increase engagement journalism efforts in 2020. In this recent webinar, Side Effects Managing Editor Dave Rosenthal and Indianapolis Recorder Editor Oseye Boyd talk about their local reporting partnership and how media collaborations can work.
Side Effects and the Indianapolis Recorder, the country’s fourth oldest Black newspaper, have worked together to cover the high rate of Black maternal and infant mortality rates, the COVID-19 pandemic and recent protests against systemic racism.
Side Effects, Indiana Public Broadcasting and WFYI are asking Americans about health issues as part of the America Amplified: Election 2020 initiative. The public media initiative, funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, is using community engagement to inform and strengthen local, regional and national journalism.
